Data corruption and other failures are definately possible. Due to the nature of the installer, you can only run the live or test version on a computer; in other words, you CAN NOT install both on the same computer. To switch between the two, you will need to uninstall the existing one and then install the targetted version.

To put it another way, you should only run this on a separate computer, one not dedicated to your daily "real" work. Additionally, you can contact support for a test account (different database) so that you are not testing against your live data.
